Welcome to piano lessons at Music Everywhere! Please read the following studios policies carefully, then initial and sign where indicated, and return to me.

STUDENT EXPECTATIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES

1: Schedule 20-30 minutes of practice each day for at least five days per week. Remember: playing is not practicing!

2: Complete all assignments, including theory.

3: Review carefully any suggestions or instructions given in the previous lesson.

4: Be ready to begin promptly at your lesson time. Remember the time slot is yours but when it’s up I will move on to the next student.

5: If questions arise, be sure to ask during the lesson! The teacher wants you to understand all assignments and succeed!

6: Fingernails should be kept trim. When playing with curved fingers, the nails should not click.

7: During the lesson please turn your cell phone to silent and make sure the lesson is in a quiet room free from distractions.

PARENT/GUARDIAN EXPECTATIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES

1: Support the fulfillment of your child’s responsibilities. Consistency is the key to learning a musical instrument! This means attending lessons and daily practice.

2: Encourage progress. Many small steps throughout the year yield big results!

3: Remind your son/daughter of daily practice and help them to schedule this practice time in their daily routine.

4: Provide a practice environment that is free from interruptions (family, friends, TV, computer, or phone).

5: Be financially responsible and pay ON TIME. Late payments will result in $5 late fee every week it is late past the 7th of each month. For questions regarding payment contact Michele directly at 480-415-3119.

6: Communicate with the teacher about any questions or concerns you have regarding the student, music, practicing, or lesson content.

7: Provide an acceptable instrument for practice in a quiet area so focus is possible.

8: Ensure the room is quiet that they are taking their lesson. It must be free from any distractions of noise or talking.

TEACHER EXPECTATIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES

1: Provide each student with the personal attention and respect necessary to develop his/her individual talents.

2: Guide each student to a greater understanding and enjoyment of music.

3: Guide each student towards an awareness of her/his capabilities – clearly communicating short-term and long-term goals. This may be verbal or written communication.

4: Encourage a feeling of success at each student’s individual rate of learning.

5: Guide each student towards a musical independence and initiative through a balanced program of theory, technique and repertoire.
• Theory – studying the “grammar” of the language of music.
• Technique – the physical mechanics of the instrument.
• Repertoire – a list of pieces to be learned based on standard classical, jazz, and popular music essential to gaining an understanding and appreciation for music of many different kinds.

6: Report the progress of the student to the parent, listen to any concerns and answer any questions of the parent and student.

TUITION

Tuition is calculated by the length and number of lessons each week in a month.

PAYMENT is due on the 7th of each month for the Entire Month of lessons. Failing to attend on the first lesson of the month does not mean the payment can be made later. Paypal, Venmo, Zelle, Credit/Debit Card, or personal checks are acceptable and may be mailed to the address on the student invoice. Checks should be made payable to Music Everywhere. You can also pay electronically through PayPal by clicking on the link in your invoice. To avoid PayPal fees go to PayPal directly choose “friends & family” & send payment to michelechater@cox.net.

INVOICES: Student invoices will be emailed at the end of the month, for the upcoming month.

REFUNDS: Payment for lessons are FLAT fees to RESERVE you, or your child’s, weekly time slot for lessons. This is due by the 7th of the month. WHETHER YOU CHOOSE to attend or miss, Fees CANNOT be lowered or REFUNDED for missed lessons. Once a payment is made, it will NOT be refunded period.

ADMINISTRATIVE COSTS: Sheet music is very costly for the studio to absorb the amount for all students. The cost of the sheet music for each student (for their repertoire notebooks) will appear on the following months invoice if applicable.

LATE PAYMENTS: Payments made after the 7th of the month are considered late, and are subject to a $5 late fee to be added on the 8th then on the 15th the fee will be $10 and if it’s 3 weeks late the fee will be $15.

RETURNED CHECK FEE: If a check is returned due to insufficient funds, the student will accrue a $30 fee, plus the amount of payment due.

CANCELLATIONS & ABSENCES

STUDENT ABSENCES: If given at least 24 hours prior notice, a makeup lesson will be offered. However there are NO CANCELLATIONS. Money will NOT be rebated or returned for a missed lesson.

In addition the teacher reserves the right to terminate a student who’s attendance falls less than an average of 50%.

EXTENDED VACATIONS: Please be advised that if taking a vacation that requires you to miss more than 1 week of lessons, payment of $20.00 a week will be required to reserve your time slot. There is a long waiting list and students specific time slots or any other opening cannot be guaranteed when you return unless payment to hold that slot is received. If you choose to not have your time slot held that is the same as choosing to terminate your lessons at which time the lesson termination clause goes into effect.

TEACHER ABSENCES: All lessons missed as a result of the teacher canceling shall be made up at a convenient time.

LESSON TERMINATION -STUDENT TERMINATION: Parent or adult student must inform the studio in writing with a 30-DAY NOTICE prior to discontinuing classes. The student is responsible for the last month’s payment whether they choose to attend lessons that month or not.

TEACHER-INITIATED TERMINATION: Lessons may be terminated for unpaid or continuously late-paid tuition. The teacher reserves the right to terminate lessons at her own discretion.
